Western Doctors in Recovery is a non-profit public benefit corporation whose mission is to undertake activities designed to promote the health and welfare of physicians and to assist physicians and doctoral level health care professionals to maintain a healthy recovery from substance use disorders.
We are governed by a 5-member Board of Directors.
We are supported by registration fees for the annual meetings and by donations from individuals and corporations who wish to contribute to the organization’s long term stability and to provide scholarships for some whose financial situation may make it hard to pay the registration fee.
We extend our thanks for their support to:
Santé Center for Healing in Argyle, Texas
Affinity EHealth, Inc
Bradford Health Services Healthcare Professionals Program
Formation of the group began with an open meeting at the 2014 IDAA conference in Rancho Mirage. Over 50 people attended that meeting to discuss the idea of forming a regional group for the western US. With the support expressed at that meeting, planning started. The first weekend gathering was held March 13-15, 2015 in sunny Redondo Beach, California. For the first 3 years, administrative services and financial support came from California Public Protection and Physician Health (CPPPH).
We have modeled our group after the International Doctors In Alcoholics Anonymous (IDAA) – an organization that offers world-wide support to doctors and their families.
